Quick facts

BISON is an early flowering, tetraploid (4N), short lived perennial bunchgrass. This man-made derivative of perennial and annual ryegrass is high heterotic in terms of DM yield, vigor and persistence. Bison produces a dense, erect, fine leaved sod and is responsive to increased nitrogen and rainfall. Bison exhibits excellent seedling vigor, tolerates moderately acidic soils and remains productive under poorly drained situations. Evaluation trials and farm utilization indicates that Bison has an unequaled combination of winter growth and persistence for an endophyte-free ryegrass. Bison can persist for 1-5 years depending upon environment and management conditions.
