Intermediate ryegrass

(Lolium x boucheanum Kunth)

Hybrid ryegrass is a cross between perennial ryegrass and Italian ryegrass, which combines the parental properties to various degrees. We have hybrid ryegrass varieties which resemble perennial ryegrass, others which resemble Italian ryegrass, and others which are transitional forms. DLF-TRIFOLIUM has specialized in types which combine the persistence of perennial ryegrass with a feed quality approximating that of Italian ryegrass. These hybrid ryegrass varieties are particularly suited to grazing in early spring, when production is greater than that of perennial ryegrass, and, with their smaller number of flower stalks, better than Italian ryegrass in the latter part of the season. This results in less waste. Hybrids are more drought-resistant than both perennial and Italian ryegrass.
