Quick Facts

CHICKADEE is an improved forage chicory variety with ovate leaves that are higher in energy and mineral content than most alfalfa and cool season grasses. Chickadee has a deep tap root which increases its ability to withstand drought. It has strong cold tolerance with good spring recovery as well. Forage chicory will provide abundant high quality forage from spring through fall. For better balanced livestock nutrition with greater forage volume, Chickadee Chicory is an excellent choice.

Establish Chickadee chickory alone, or as a component with a mixed pasture stand in a moist and firm seedbed. In cold climates, plant in the spring or early summer (if moisture is abundant). In warmer climates, spring planting is still recommended, but late summer or early fall seedings can be successful. Best suited to well or moderately drained soils.
