Quick Facts
TYFON is intended for use as a high quality feed source for mid-summer or late autumn use when other cool season forages are slowing down. Tyfon should be planted at least 60 days before the grazing season to allow for adequate growth and re-growth. Plant in the spring or the fall (or in some cases farmers have planted in in the spring and then re-planted in the fall to keep a constant supply of lush nutritious forage all through the growing season).
TYFON can be used for livestock, wildlife, or even for human consumption. Although Tyfon is an annual, it may overwinter in mild climates to provide some early spring forage. The high nutritive value is retained well after the first frost. Tyfon performs best when the soil is between 6.5 and 7.5 and fertility is high. Sprouting usually occurs after 5-10 days depending on soil temperature. Grazing can begin 45-60 days after planting. Tyfon can be used for silage as well, but due to the high water content of the plants, several days may be required to wilt the forage down to the proper moisture content.
