MBH2 is an elite, new and improved, heat and disease tolerant perennial ryegrass with a fine decumbent growth habit. Mbh2 is a dark green, moderately fine textured variety that exhibits photoperiod-sensitive growth which provides excellent late season vegetative tillering. Mbh2 is endophyte-enhanced for added disease resistance. In the 1997 NTEP trials conducted over 27 US and Canadian locations, Mbh2 was statistically ranked first in turf quality.

MBH2 was developed for permanent poly-species turfgrass blends and mixtures containing improved perennial ryegrass; Kentucky bluegrass; chewings, slender creeping and strong creeping red fescue, colonial bentgrass and turf type tall fescue. Platinum is also used extensively in winter overseeding programs on greens, tees and fairways either alone or in species mixtures.
